The Naperville Rosebud Restaurant, a restaurant near Chicago, recently fired their young delivery driver for requesting time off. The outrageous request the driver was asking for was time off in order to undergo his cancer treatment. The delivery driver says that he was fired once he informed fired his boss that he would need six weeks off for a surgical procedure.
Currently, the former employee is not seeking any financial or legal restitution. Gianfrancesco Genoso thinks that is probably the right move. The employee feels personally hurt and claims that he was treated unfairly. He states that he cannot help his situation and would like an apology. “It would go a long way to make me feel better about the situation,” says Larsen, the teenager who was fired from the restaurant.
A representative for the food chain denied to comment stating company’s confidential human resources department policy. However, the official statement says they plan to “thoroughly investigate” the matter.
