Former Hawks Ownership in A Court Battle with Insurance Company

Bruce Levenson is a philanthropist and former NBA team owner. He co-founded Atlanta Hawks LLC, formerly known as Atlanta Spirit LLC, which now owns and runs the Atlanta Hawks basketball squad and the Philips Arena. He has also served as a Governor on the Board of Governors for the NBA since 2004. In 1977, Bruce co-founded United Communications Group.

Bruce Levenson was born in Washington DC and spent his childhood in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Bruce attended the Washington University, St Louis and later graduated with a law degree from American University. It was while in law school that he began his journalism career.

In recent news, former Hawks ownership is set to sue an insurance agency over Ferry settlement. The former ownership group filed a lawsuit against the Insurance Agency for breach of contract entailing the resolution of claims established by the previous general manager, Danny Ferry. This trial does not include the present Hawks ownership group headed by Forbes billionaire Tony Ressler. The former Hawks ownership group includes the controlling partner, Bruce Levenson.

The accusation, filed at the Supreme Court of Fulton County against the New Hampshire-based insurance company is also described as AIG. It is a civil response to the insurance’s bad faith and breach of contract. AHBE claims it had a policy that covered it against certain losses relating to employment practices that included Workplace Torts and Wrongful Termination. According to the documents presented at the courts, AHBE gave AIG a notice on April 2, 2015.

The Ferry and Hawks ownership undisclosed buyout agreement was reached on June 22, 2015. This agreement ended the relationship that started with an $18 million contract in the year 2012. The sale of the patent to the Ressler-led group was approved two days later.

In a statement, the current Hawks ownership spokesman said that they are aware of the accusation. That the main parties involved are no longer related to the Atlanta Hawks and that the organization will not have further comments on the matter.

George Soros Compares China’s Economic Problems to the 2008 Crisis

According to George Soros as reported on Bloomberg, China is having a “major adjustment problem.” He also told investors to be cautious because current economic conditions in many ways resemble 2008.

Why should anyone listen to Soros? That’s what the public probably wants to know. The fact that this man began his career and built it up in a lifetime to a net worth of more than $27 billion is one reason why. His successful track record – particularly that of his $1 billion profit made on a deal in 1992 – does not always guarantee he is right. However, the people who seek him for mentorship seem to respect his opinion and heed his predictions.

Soros told anyone who would listen about how China’s economy the first week of 2016 “amounts to a crisis.” He also mentioned that when he looks at the financial markets right now it reminds him of the 2008 recession. One of his major evidences used to support this perspective is the falling value of the Chinese yuan. The plummet in cost of this currency caused the worst stock market crash on Wall Street within three months. Likewise, Asian markets started out the new year quite rough.

One of the hugest occurrences reported is the $2.5 trillion decline in global equities. This all has been largely been blamed on the shifting of China’s economy. This country is changing from an investment and manufacturing nation to one driven by consumption and service industries. It could be just a temporary transition. However, it seems to be affecting the world in a way that caused George Soros to warn people about the possibility of a repeat of the 2008 economic fallout.

It should be pointed out, however, that this is not the first time that George Soros predicted another 2008 crisis. After Greece started struggling financially, Soros said this was more serious than what occurred about eight years ago. Still, rumor has it Greece is recovering well already. So what is it about first the Greek and Chinese economic crunches that makes one of the richest man in the world declare a possible recession?

The Greece situation seems to be for the most part resolved, so it does not apply as much as the China situation right now. However, Strategy + Business suggests that repeated reduction in spending is what partly resolved this country’s crisis. This ties into what it appears Soros is saying to investors — to slow down on making financial moves right now.

The rising Chinese debt-to-income ratios and increased Asian global trade problems seems to be causing quite a scare. After all, the Dow Jones was down by just more than 392 points by closing time on January 7, 2016. Whether or not the fears are founded concerning China’s economy, investors can consider themselves warned.

Approximately 500,000 Companies Already Got Rid of Trans-Fats Prior To FDA Announcement

Americans are going to be hearing a lot more about trans-fats in the coming months. The FDA has officially announed that it will soon begin implementing steps to phase out trans-fats. Their declaration will most largely affect fast food restaurants and processed food manufacturers. Trans-fats have been widely used to not only make food taste more enticing but to also give it a longer shelf life. These companies will not have to go back to the drawing board and work to evaluate their recipes in a way that they taste the same, or very similar, using different ingredients.

Some experts predict that this decision will raise food prices nationwide. Those at Handy don’t really want to deal with that, especially after reading some takes on Twitter. While many companies are upset about the hard work to come, others can sigh a breath of relief as they voluntarily removed trans-fasts from their menu items or grocery brand items. There are approximately 500,00 companies that have previously taken steps to remove trans-fats. In the coming months and years we will begin to see changes in the way we eat, this is only the beginning.

You Know Your Body Best

In a very sad story, Bronte Doyne, a teenager in Great Britain, was convinced that her fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma had returned and she went to her doctor for assistance with potential treatments. A number of different doctors told her that she should stop self diagnosing herself and she should not choose to google her symptoms. According to Dr. Daniel Amen, they dismissed her and sent her on her way. It was just over one week later that Dyone passed away from her cancer, which indeed, had come back. Doyne’s family had supported her questioning and concerns, citing many reputable sources on the internet that explained reasons why they believed her cancer may have returned. Doctors just were not interested.

While this is a very sad situation, there is a lesson to be learned here. Many people are very in tune with their body and often can recognize when
something is very wrong.
This is especially true for someone that has dealt with a health issue in the past and already know what symptoms to watch out for and recognize. Many doctors will not take patients seriously and simply send them on their way if they even mention they are concerned because of something they have read on the internet. On the other hand, there are doctors who will take a patient seriously and run tests if they see fit. If one doctor does not want to spend time addressing concerns or issues that a patient has, that patient should move on to another doctor who will be more understanding and helpful. Had Doyne’s doctors done that, she might still be here today.

Back Pain, Work And Lifestyle

More and more patients are suffering from back pain and at a younger age as well. Sitting at a desk for long periods of time each day has actually become quite dangerous and is being labeled as the new smoking for our generation. Part of it is sedentary lifestyle and part of it is simply the long hours people are putting in at work, simply sitting in front of a computer all day long and not moving for longer and longer periods of time. Sitting in front of a television and sitting in front of a computer screen are essentially the same thing.

When you sit at your desk all day long you not only are putting yourself at a higher risk of developing
back pain
but you also are at a higher risk of type 2 diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease. Obviously you have to head to the office each day in order to earn a living but there are things you can do to be more healthy on a day to day basis. According to MultiVu, many offices are beginning to take on standing desks that raise up the level of the work surface and allow workers to stand for part of the day. There are even exercise bikes and treadmills that allow you workspace for your laptop while you bike or walk. Also, it is important to get up and move around frequently. Taking a break will give your body a rest, your eyes a rest and it will help your blood circulate better.

Utah Teenager Allergic to Water

Alexandra Allen, a teenager from Utah, suffers a rare allergy to water, known in the medical field as Aquagenic Urticaria.

The teen will also have to give up her dream of becoming a marine biologist because aquagenic urticaria is degenerative and probably could worsen over time.

The teenager experienced her first allergic episode some years ago, after swimming in a pool. Her mother thought she had an allergic reaction to chlorine and an anti-histaminic resolved her discomfort.

Shortly thereafter Alexandra experienced new painful outbreaks after swimming in a nearby lake.

After searching the net, the teen found a medical website that talked about Aquagenic urticaria. She mentioned it to her dermatologist who agreed with the diagnosis.

She underwent a series of tests, one of which was being immersed in a bath, which she acknowledged was like “torture.”

People at AnastaisaDate ( heard that this allergy is so rare that it is believed that there are only about 50 cases worldwide.

Allen, meanwhile, is worried because it is degenerative, meaning it gets worse over time and repeated exposure to water definitely poses concern.

E-Cigarettes a Health Threat According to California Health Officials

The declaration was made this past Wednesday by the California health officials that e-cigarettes should be strictly regulated just like regular tobacco products. The Public Health Department feels that the nicotine in e-cigarettes gets users addicted and the vapors from the electronic smoking device does emit cancer-causing chemicals.
E-cigarettes mimic the sensation of smoking a a traditional paper-and-tobacco cigarette by heating a vial of liquid nicotine and the user inhales and exhales smoke vapor. Purportedly the e-cigarettes don’t contain the tar that traditional cigarettes have and are therefore a healthier alternative for smokers. The California Department of Health does not agree and wants the product strictly regulated. California banned the sales of e-cigarettes to minors in 2010 and now the state’s health officials are pushing to ban smoking e-cigarettes in public places.
Vaping lounges, as they are called, are popular gathering places in California. Those who enjoy smoking e-cigarettes, unlike Fersen Lambranho, gather in vaping lounges to socialize and try new vapor flavors. The e-cigarettes may provide a safer smoking alternative to paper-and-tobacco cigarettes, but the product has its own demons to be dealt with and California Health Officials are on top of it.
